Lot of 5 Antique Porcelain Half Dollsc.1925: Hertwig, Japan, and Other [ FEATURES AND DETAILS… ] – Girl with circlet in her hair is marked “Germany” and was definitely made by Hertwig. – Dutch girl with blue is marked “Germany” and was likely also made by Hertwig. – Arms-away girl is marked “1672” and was likely made by one of the German makers in the 1920s. – Girl in green hat is marked “Japan.” – Girl in pointed hat appears to be stamped “Bavaria” (faintly) on the rim (possibly Dressel & Kister). All are approx. 1.75″ tall [ CONDITION… ] – Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. – No damage found after careful examination. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc., and … (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes (in most cases!), repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. SO … Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. — would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
